Step 1 - Register with Achilles

A company registers interest with Achilles and subscribes to the programme to receive programme guidance materials and log-in details to the software tool, E-Manage

The scheme guidance consists of:The programme process

  • CEMARS standard for certification
  • Measure guidance on how to establish a carbon footprint
  • Manage guidance on how to establish a reduction plan
  • Templates to complete to achieve certification (Emissions Inventory Report, Emissions Management and Reduction Plan, Disclosure Statement)
  • Best-practice examples
  • E-Manage instruction manual on how to use the software

Step 2 - Measure

A company measures emissions using the guidance received. 

Data is entered into E-Manage which provides an accessible and structured repository to store and collate data on emissions sources

E-Manage capability is compliant with ISO14064 Part 1 and includes:

  • Baseline carbon footprint measurement
  • Creation of data for Emissions Inventory Report
  • Setting of KPIs
  • Upload of bulk data.

Step 3 - Manage

A company develops its carbon reduction strategy and targets which are necessary requirements to achieve CEMARS certification.

Step 4 - Audit by Achilles

A company undergoes a two-stage audit by Achilles.

Step 5 - Certification Awarded

Certification is awarded to successful company and case studies are developed. The carboNZero strategic business unit retains the authority and responsibility for the certification decision.
