Achilles created the carbonReduction programme in anticipation of the increasing importance of carbon issues and risk.
The carbonReduction programme is founded on two key principles:
- Significant carbon abatement activity must involve collaboration with the supply chain
- Meaningful analysis of supply chain results requires the use of a common methodology to measurement and reduction.
To date, 70 companies in the UK have registered on the carbonReduction programme to achieve CEMARS certification. Over 30 CEMARS certifications have now been awarded equating to 6.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent being certified under the carbonReduction programme.
CEMARS was developed by Landcare Research (a Crown Research Institute owned by the New Zealand Government) and is based on 15 years scientific research by greenhouse gas experts.
